The only way to diagnose a CCM is through a CT Scan or, more accurately, an MRI.
Often times CCMs are diagnosed when the person becomes symptomatic. However, it is common for CCMs to be diagnosed by accident when a CT Scan or MRI is conducted because of other health problems. Despite the presence of a CCM, it can be inactive --meaning there is no evidence that the lesion produced a bleed. It is also possible that the person has not yet experienced enough symptoms for them to put two and two together and realize they should seek additional medical investigation.
